      <description>Southampton City Council is doing all it can to make sure everyone can enjoy the world of literature.

City libraries are working with the WRVS (Women's Royal Voluntary Service) to recruit volunteers to help expand and develop the Home Library Service. 

The service, run by Southampton City Council, provides an invaluable connection to the outside world for many people unable to leave their homes due to incapacity and ill health.

City of Southampton swimmers were promoted back to the National Swimming Premier League after the club's swimmers triumphed in the season's final South Division One West gala.

      <title>Last few days to get skating!</title>

      <description>Ice skaters only have a few more days to get on the ice at the city's spectacular winter ice rink. Southampton City Ice Rink will finish on the evening of Sunday 11 January following a successful 7 week run. The rink, supplied and operated by Cousins Entertainment Limited has welcomed over 25,000 skaters so far. This is the first year that an ice rink has been located on the Civic Centre forecourt.

      <title>Christmas comes early: Free Insulation for Southampton's private landlords</title>

      <description>Southampton City Council and the Dorset Energy Advice Centre (DEAC) are to offer free cavity and wall insulation to the city's private landlords and there are no strings attached. This is likely to be popular with local landlords and tenants. The original scheme started in Bournemouth, where it helped some 700 landlords insulate over 7000 homes. Southampton is hoping to replicate this success and it estimates that there are 3000 homes that will benefit from this excellent initiative. Free insula... Southampton City Council is providing free coach parking for up to 26 coaches in the city until the end of January to help boost the local economy.
